Visit the beautiful Hong islands during your stay in Krabi & Ao Nang! This one day tour by speedboat takes you to 5 different locations, all especially beautiful: Hong island, Hong lagoon, Pakbia & Rai island and Lading island. The Hong island tour includes hotel transfers, transport by speedboat, a Thai lunch box, drinks and fresh fruits, snorkeling gear, accident insurance and an English speaking guide. If you want, you can also add a kayaking adventure at the end of the day. The tour is suitable for all ages. Children are welcome to join and as the Hong islands are just 20 minutes away from Ao Nang, it’s an easy boat ride for your little ones.

Small Hong islands

We start the day with a pickup from your hotel or villa. Our driver will bring you to the starting point at Nopparat Thara pier, from wehere we board the speedboat. Our first stops of the day are Pakbia and Rai Islands. Feel the soft sand beneath your feet and soak up the sun on the beautiful sandy beaches.

Next on the Hong island tour is Lading Island, where you can explore the shoreline and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. Snorkeling gear is provided by the crew, so you can explore the underwater world as well. We then make our way to the most famous stop of the day: the Hong Islands.

Large Hong islands

Hong Lagoon is first, which is surrounded by huge limestone cliffs. You can go for a swim from the boat or stay on board for some magical pictures. The Hong island tour then continues to the breathtaking Hong Island, where a delicious lunch awaits in a handy lunch box. You will also receive fresh fruits on board. If you want, you can also make the steep climb up to the viewpoint. Or enjoy the surroundings from your kayak as you paddle around Hong island. Please note that kayaking can be added to the booking as it’s not for everyone.

What to Expect on the Hong Islands speedboat tour

The Hong islands tour is a wonderful day out for young and old. Children can enjoy the undeep waters, play with the sand or go snorkeling. If you feel fit, it’s a nice but very steep walk up to the viewpoint. From there you will have an amazing birds eye view of all the islands. Kayaking can be added to the booking and happens at Hong island. A maximum of 2 persons per kayak can join the trip, which is not difficult to do and suitable for all ages.

Itinerary

08:00-09:00 - Pickup from your hotel.We will pick you up from your hotel between 08:00 and 09:00. The exact pickup time depends on your location. We will send you a more precise pick-up time once the booking is confirmed.

09:00 - Departure by speedboat.At 9:00 am, we depart from Nopparat Thara Pier. If we have any customers from Railay beach, we will pick you up in the Railay East at the floating pier at 9:20 am.

Hong Island & Lunch. We will head to a small group of tropical islands, which is called Hong (room) island. Here, you can enjoy various activities like swimming, sunbathing, and kayaking (available only for customers booked in advance). If you want, you can climb to the top of the viewpoint for a breathtaking 360-degree scenery of the Hong Islands. Back on the beach a tasty lunch box filled with Thai cuisine is served.

Hong Lagoon. Our journey continues into the 'Secret' Hong Lagoon. Tucked away behind two majestic cliffs, the lagoon's calm waters will be our silent companion as we cruise gently through, enveloped by the island's natural splendor.

Pakbia Island. Next, we'll take a break on the quiet beaches of Pakbia. See the beautiful sandbars that show up when the tide is low, creating temporary bridges to the other islands. Relax, wander around, and just take in the beauty here.

Lao Lading Island. After that, we'll visit the Lao Lading Island, also known as Paradise Island. This is a perfect spot for swimming or snorkeling. You might even see the local birds’ nest collectors.

15:00 - Return to Nopparat Thara Pier. It's time to board on speedboat again for our return trip to Aonang.

15:30 - Return transfer to your hotel. On arrival at the pier, our drivers will be waiting for you to bring you back to your hotel. The speedboat tour to the Hong islands ends here.

FAQs

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
